In an interview with Dan Le Batard, Tagovailoa called Flores a terrible person.
The quarterback also said that during his time as head coach, Flores constantly told him that he sucked and that he didn’t belong in the position.
Flores is now the defensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings.
Flores said Tuesday, “Specific to the comments that were made by Tua, I just want to say look, I’m genuinely happy genuinely happy for the success that Tua’s had and I wish him nothing but the best. I think player relationships are very important to me. That’s the foundation of coaching.”
Flores said his main focus in on the team he’s coaching, the 2024 Vikings.
As for their relationship, Flores said, “I think part of coaching is correcting, I’m always going to correct, I’m always going to have a high standard, and I’ve done a lot of reflecting on the situation, communication, I think there’s things I can do better, for sure.”
As for the specific comment that he’s a terrible person, Flores said “Look I’m human. So that hit me in a way that I wouldn’t say was positive for me. At the same time, I have to use that and say how can I grow from that, how can I be better?... Do I feel like that’s me? No. But, how can i grow from that situation and create a world where nobody can say that about Brian Flores.”
