CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Canes most impactful defensive player continues to get attention.
On Thursday, Rueben Bain Jr. was named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Lombardi Award.

The list features 90 players who are competing for the award given annually to offensive or defensive lineman who exemplifies the character and discipline of Vince Lombardi.
Bain was named the 2023 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year.
He had 44 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks for the Canes.
He earned consensus Freshman All-American honors.
The Canes open the season August 31 when they play at the swap against the Florida Gators.
