MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins are ready for their first preseason game of the year as they take on the Atlanta Falcons at Hard Rock Stadium Friday night.
Following two days of joint practices in Miami Gardens, the Dolphins players told Local 10 they are eager to test their mettle on the field and begin their preseason campaign on a strong note.
The Miami Dolphins will face the Atlanta Falcons tonight in their preseason opener, marking the first real test for the team as they gear up for the regular season.
The two teams held joint practices earlier this week, which provided valuable preparation time but also saw some of the typical tensions that arise during these intense sessions.
While the practices included a few skirmishes, Dolphins safety Jevon Holland shared their importance, saying the competitive environment helps the team sharpen its skills and focus ahead of the season.
“The joint practices really add a level of competition,” Holland said. “It removes the angst of playing a game and allows us to work on things in a controlled setting. They can get frisky, but they’re definitely useful.”
As the Miami Dolphins prepare for their preseason game, it’s important to note that many of the starters, including Tyreek Hill, are not expected to play.
Earlier in the week, Hill spoke about the excitement surrounding the team, expressing confidence in their dynamic and explosive style.
“We’ve got fast guys, flashy guys, physical guys—whatever you want,” Hill said.
With the addition of Odell Beckham Jr., Hill also hinted that the team’s celebrations are set to become even more impressive.
Hill also hopes that the 2024 Dolphins will break the team’s 24-year streak without a playoff win, the longest active drought in the NFL.
The joint sessions were an opportunity for both teams to assess their strengths and weaknesses against unfamiliar competition, something that isn’t always possible during intrasquad practices.
For the Dolphins, it was a chance to build chemistry and refine strategies under the watchful eyes of the coaching staff.
As the Dolphins take the field tonight, all eyes will be on how the team’s new additions and rising stars perform.
The preseason is a crucial time for players on the bubble to make their case for a spot on the final roster, and Friday’s game will be the first of several opportunities for them to prove their worth.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
