Former Miami Dolphins DT Tim Bowens to join Ring of Honor this season

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Former defensive tackle Tim Bowens has been named the 28th member of the Miami Dolphins’ Ring of Honor.

The Dolphins announced on X Monday morning that Bowens will be officially inducted during halftime of the game on Oct. 27 when the team hosts the Arizona Cardinals at Hard Rock Stadium.

Bowens spent his entire 11-year NFL career with the Miami Dolphins from 1994 to 2004, showcasing exceptional toughness and durability in one of football’s most demanding positions.

With 157 games under his belt, Bowens ranks 14th in Dolphins history for games played and sixth for career starts with 155, the most by an interior defensive lineman.

Bowens was a special guest at training camp on Monday and shared his thoughts on the new induction.

“I’m grateful and honored,” said Bowens. “I can’t wait to tell my mom and my kids.”

Bowens played his entire 11-year NFL career with the Dolphins from 1994-2004 where he started 92 straight games between 1994 and 1999, the fifth-longest streak in team history.

After being selected 20th overall in the 1994 NFL Draft, Bowens made an immediate impact, starting in Week 1 and earning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Throughout his career, Bowens racked up 407 tackles (296 solo), 22.0 sacks, nine forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, one interception and 21 passes defended, according to NFL.com.

“From the day he was drafted until the day he retired, Tim was a warrior in the trenches. His selfless, dependable and physical style of play is a big reason why his teammates also found success, most notably Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas, who are now enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” said Tom Garfinkel, Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Miami Dolphins in a team press release on Monday. “We are excited to recognize Tim later this season and cement him where he belongs, among the all-time greats in Miami Dolphins history.”

Bowens was selected to the Pro Bowl twice, following the 1998 and 2002 seasons.

He was also added to the Dolphins’ Walk of Fame in 2012 and named to the Miami Dolphins 50th Season All-Time Team in 2015.
