Florida Panthers looking to keep Lord Stanley’s Cup at home in Game 5 vs. Edmonton Oilers

SUNRISE, Fla. – The Florida Panthers will aim to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup in front of their fans in Tuesday night’s Game 5 vs. the Edmonton Oilers.

Local 10 News spoke with Panthers defenceman Aaron Ekblad who said he knows his team can’t take their foot off the gas after being just one victory away from winning their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.

“We need to just get to our game right away,” said Ekblad. “We got away from it last game, but we’ll be locked in.”

Players like Matthew Tkachuk said he has dreamed of winning a Stanley Cup his entire life and understands the task at hand to do it at home.

‘We couldn’t have dreamed of a better spot,” Tkachuk said. “A chance to do it in front of our fans is very special for us. This is an opportunity to go out and leave everything out there.

The Panthers know they have to respond and are aware of the opportunity after a blowout 8-1 loss to the Oilers in Game 4.

Edmonton star Connor McDavid, who is considered by many to be the best player in the world of hockey, scored his first goal of the series in the second period of Game 4. McDavid finally finding the back of the net was part of an eight-goal scoring outburst from the Oilers.

Through the past few weeks, Local 10 has covered the impact of the panthers on the South Florida community. From super fans to charitable giving, to childhood friends after learning that Marlins’ Jake Burger and Tkachuk grew up together.

It won’t be cheap if you want to be inside Amerant Bank Arena for the possible Cup-clinching Game 5.
