MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. ā€“ The Miami Dolphins are adding another veteran Pro Bowl pass rusher before the start of the regular season.

Defensive end Calais Campbell is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport confirmed on X Thursday.

The terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Itā€™s a homecoming for the 37-year-old after Campbell played his college ball at the University of Miami.

Campbell is coming off a season with the Atlanta Falcons where he started all 17 games and recorded 6.5 sacks, 56 tackles along with 17 quarterback hits.

The addition of Campbell Thursday came shortly after the Dolphins announced the signing of first-round pick Chop Robinson.

The Dolphins needed a bolster to their pass rush after Campbellā€™s fellow defensive ends could still be recovering when the 2024 season rolls around.

Jaelan Phillips suffered a torn Achilles, while Bradley Chubb suffered a torn ACL, with both injuries occurring late in the 2023 season.

It wouldnā€™t be a surprise if both Campbell and Robinson end up starting in new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaverā€™s defense by the time the regular season rolls around.

The Dolphins also added former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Shaquil ā€œShaqā€ Barrett, who had 4.5 sacks for Tampa Bay in 16 starts last season.

The Campbell signing gives Miami the depth at the defensive line after losing pass rushers Christian Wilkins and Andrew Van Ginkel in free agency.

He will also bring leadership skills and was named the Walter Peyton Man of the Year in 2021 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
