‘We want the cup!’ Fans riding high after Panthers take 2-0 series lead in Stanley Cup Final

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers fans were loud and proud at American Bank Arena as the team took a 2-0 series lead vs. the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night.

The diehard fans also had simple message for anyone watching the Stanley Cup Final:

“We want the cup!”

The night started off with Heat legend Alonzo Mourning banging the Panthers drum to get the fans going.

“I wasn’t expecting that, but it was a good thing,” said a Panthers fan. “(Sergei) Bobrovsky was unbelievable.”

With a 2-0 series lead, mostly thanks to Game 2 hero center Evan Rodrigues, Panthers fans believe their hunt for the first championship in franchise history will be a quick one.

“It’s going to be a quick one. “Nothing is stopping us,” said a lifelong Panthers fan.

Cats’ fans were seen in their ponchos and umbrellas as they waited in the rain for the doors to open.

The Panthers now lead the series 2-0 and will head to Edmonton for Games 3 and 4.

The Oilers, meanwhile, are looking to return to hockey’s mountaintop for the first time since 1990.

The puck for Game 3 at Rogers Place in downtown Edmonton is set to drop at 8 p.m. Thursday.
