Lando Norris celebrates F1 Miami Grand Prix victory

British driver earns 1st career victory

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – McLaren’s Lando Norris, who had suffered a nose cut in Amsterdam, was celebrating his historic Formula One Miami Grand Prix victory on Sunday night.

McLaren had hosted former President Donald Trump at the garage before the race. Max Verstappen was on the lead when he hit a chicane that knocked a cone.

Verstappen’s mistake turned into an opportunity for Norris. Kevin Magnussen tangled with Logan Sargeant, of Pompano Beach.

The 24-year-old British driver stood at the top of the F1 podium as a Grand Prix winner after gaining a 5-second lead that increased to 7.6.

“I am over the moon,” Norris said after the win.

Red Bull’s Verstappen finished second and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished third.

While Norris celebrated his first-career victory, the last-place finish on the Miami International Autodrome went to Sargeant.
