MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – After a day of losing and adding players in free agency, the Miami Dolphins have signed a Super Bowl winning pass rusher to help bolster their defense in 2024.
Shaquil “Shaq” Barrett, who had 4.5 sacks for Tampa Bay in 16 starts last season, is signing with the Dolphins, Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz reported on Tuesday.

Barrett, 31, has 59 sacks and 22 forced fumbles in his career.
The contract is for one year worth up to a maximum of $9 million, according to Barrett’s agent Drew Rosenhaus.
Barrett could find his way to the starting lineup after Miami recently parted ways with linebackers Andrew Van Ginkel and Jerome Baker.
The team also parted ways with defensive lineman Christian Wilkins who is signing a four-year, $110 million base value deal that includes $84.75 million guaranteed with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Dolphins were expected to target their pass rush in free agency after defensive ends Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb are expected to miss the majority of the 2024 season after sustaining ACL and Achilles injuries during Miami’s push for the playoffs.
