The Heat confirmed the signing of former Atlanta Hawks/ San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills on Wednesday.

Mills, 35, became a free agent after he was recently waived by the Hawks.

Now in his 15th season in the NBA, Mills has been a reliable role player for some time but saw his playing time drastically reduced after the Brooklyn Nets traded him to Atlanta, where he averaged just 10.6 minutes per game.

One of the biggest games of Mills’ career came against the Heat when he dropped 17 points in Game 5 of the 2014 NBA Finals as a member of the Spurs.

Mills is expected to take Dru Smith’s roster spot which will give Miami more depth at the guard position that already has Terry Rozier and Delon Wright.

Mills has only averaged 2.7 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game this season but is looking to increase his role and production with a Heat franchise that has worked well with veteran players.
