The Marlins are coming off a season in which they earned a National League Wild Card Spot, but were eliminated from the Playoffs in the first round by the Philadelphia Phillies.

As for their pitching, the Marlins will play the 2024 season without former Cy Young winner Sandy Alcantara, who underwent Tommy John surgery.

The Fish are excited about some of the young arms that they have.

Eury Perez returns for his second season and could shoulder a bigger load with Alcantara sidelined.

Also, the Marlins have former first round pick Max Meyer at camp.

Many of the other players, including Jazz Chisholm Jr., Josh Bell, and Jake Burger were doing work off to the side.

They donā€™t officially report to camp until next week.

Pitcher Jesus Luzardo said, ā€œGuys are going to need to pick up a lot of innings as a whole. I think we have a lot of young guys on this staff, a lot of guys who are going to need to reach a lot of personal records in innings. So, itā€™s something that everyone takes it real serious that we gotta come out here and work real hard to stay healthy throughout the whole year.ā€

Skip Schumaker won NL Manager of the Year last season.

He said that despite the Playoff berth, last season was disappointing because of how it ended. He said that only one team is happy in the end and they want to be that team.
