MIAMI – The Miami Heat are beefing up for the second half of the NBA season.
The team is acquiring guard Terry Rozier from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for point guard Kyle Lowry and draft compensation, including a 2027 first-round pick, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, of ESPN. Shams Charania, of The Athletic and Stadium, was the first to report the deal on Tuesday morning.

Terry Rozier has never made it a secret he loves the Heat and Heat culture. The feeling was mutual. This team needed a jolt. I think he’s a great fit. https://t.co/qH3cFJGkzh

Rozier is in the midst of a career year after averaging 23.2 points and 6.6 assists on 45.9 percent shooting as the No. 2 option behind star LaMelo Ball. He would provide the Heat with a proven scorer who can involve his teammates on off-nights.
The future pick is lottery-protected for 2027 and becomes unprotected in 2028, according to sources.
In 37 games this season, Lowry, 37, is averaging 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and four assists per game while shooting 42% from the floor and 38% from three-point range.
Miami Heat Head Coach Erik Spoelstra over the weekend moved Kyle Lowry from the starting lineup to the bench. Lowry has an expiring contract of over $30 million, which will allow the team to clear future cap space.
