Miami Marlins hire Rachel Balkovec as minor league director

MIAMI – The Miami Marlins continue to build their organization.

On Tuesday, the Marlins named Rachel Balkovec as their new director of player development, according to multiple reports.

Balkovec comes to the Marlins with experience in building a minor league team.

She spent the past two season as a minor league manager in the New York Yankees organization.

Balkovec, 36, was the first female hitting coach in minor league baseball and the first full-time female manager in minor league baseball.

This offseason, the Marlins moved on from Kim Ng as their general manager and hired Peter Bendix as the President of Baseball Operations.

Bendix comes to the Marlins from the Rays organization.
