MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins are expected to see the return of a key player on defense as they get ready to play in the AFC East title game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

The team announced Saturday that they have activated linebacker Jerome Baker off injured reserve and placed linebacker Bradley Chubb on injured reserve.

The team also elevated cornerback Ethan Bonner and linebacker Melvin Ingram to the active roster for Sunday.

Baker was placed on injured reserve on Dec. 9 in Miami’s 45-15 win over the Washington Commanders.

Baker has played in 93 career games with 82 starts for the Dolphins after being drafted by the team in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He has recorded 572 career tackles (374 solo), 22.5 sacks, five interceptions, 21 passes defended and six forced fumbles. He also has two interceptions returned for a touchdown, according to NFL.com.

With the Dolphins down two of their starting defensive ends, (Chubb, Phillips) defensive coordinator Vic Fangio could decide to use Baker as an additional pass rusher along with David Long Jr. Christian Wilkins, Emmanuel Ogbah and Zack Sieler.

Miami will aim to contain Josh Allen who is 10-2 in his career against them. The Dolphins will look to tie the series after losing to the Bills 48-20 back in Week 4.

The Dolphins also listed safety Jevon Holland (knees) running back Raheem Mostert (knee, ankle) and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (ankle) as questionable.

A win will give Miami the Number 2 seed and their first AFC East title since 2008.

A loss will drop them to the 6th seed where they will face the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
