MIAMI – As the Miami Heat wrapped up practice on Wednesday, Bam Adebayo had a smile on his face.
But it wasn’t a happy one.

As Adebayo was asked about a recent NBA.com survey of league executives, none of whom ranked him as the best defensive player in the NBA, Bam’s wry smile at yet another snub to put in his seemingly endless trunk of motivational tools told the story.
“I don’t pay attention to that (expletive),” Adebayo said. “GMs can have that survey. I don’t care about that survey.”
“Dudes in the NBA know who I am,” Adebayo added.
Meanwhile, Head Coach Erik Spoelstra was similarly unimpressed with the survey touting him as the NBA’s best coach.
“When you’re a coach you just can’t listen to anything,” Spoelstra said. “Because more days than not, we have no idea what the (heck) were talking about and getting criticized like crazy and that’s part of this position.”
The Heat next preseason game is against the Rockets in Houston on Thursday night.
