PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Former University of Miami Hurricanes and NFL running back Clinton Portis, who was forced to file for bankruptcy, tells Sports Illustrated he was ready to shoot and kill one of his former financial advisers as revenge.

Portis tells S-I that he's now in a good place, four years after sitting in his car with his gun on his lap ready to shoot and "kill" one of his financial advisers as they walked out of their office building. Luckily, an anonymous friend was on the phone that night and talked him out of it.

The article states Portis had two advisers, Jeff Rubin and Jinesh Brahmbhatt, who were both registered financial advisers with the NFL Players Association and who were both sued by Portis for bad business deals, mishandling of at least one account and a Ponszi Scheme.

What upsets Portis the most, he tells S-I, is that both men got "no jail time, no nothing," Portis says. "Living happily ever after."

Portis admits that his spending on lavish homes, cars and women contributed to his having to file for bankruptcy in late 2015 when he had only $150 left in his bank account. S-I reports Portis earned $43.1 million dollars during nine NFL seasons with the Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins.

Since that night four years ago when Portis nearly killed a man, he has rebuilt his life working as a broadcaster while leaning on his mother, family and friends including fellow University of Miami running back Edgerrin James who has become Portis' confidant.
