Hurricanes crush Appalachian State in first road game

Miami grabs early lead, never looks back

BOONE, N.C. – If this was the University of Miami's first road test of the season, it passed with flying colors.

The Hurricanes went into a hostile crowd in Boone, North Carolina, and crushed Appalachian State 45-10.

Mark Walton took the first play from scrimmage 80 yards to set the tone for Miami.

Brad Kaaya threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter, one to David Njoku and one to Stacey Coley.

The 'Canes jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

In the third quarter, Appalachian State tried to make a comeback.

Kaaya threw an interception near the end zone.

Appalachian State was able to cut Miami's lead to 24-10.

But the 'Canes ran away with it from there.

Joseph Yearby scored a 12-yard touchdown to put Miami up 31-10.

Kaaya hit Coley again for an 8-yard touchdown to put the 'Canes up 38-10.

The 'Canes have a week off before traveling to Georgia Tech. After that, the 'Canes host Florida State.
