NBA free agency began at 12:01 a.m. Friday morning, and one of the most coveted targets is Heat big man Hassan Whiteside.
The 7-foot center met with representatives from the Heat, Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers in New York early Friday morning. Dallas is reportedly the front runner to reach an agreement with Whiteside.

Hours after those meetings, Whiteside ignited a social media firestorm by posting on Snapchat that he would be announcing his decision soon.
Less than an hour later, Whiteside posted again, saying he was going to sleep and will post his decision in the morning.
That news comes in the wake of a Yahoo! Vertical report that the Heat had regained ground in the chase for Whiteside after securing the first meeting with the big man when free agency tipped off Friday morning.
Whiteside joined the Heat in 2014 after playing abroad for several years. The 27-year-old is expected to sign a maximum contract.
Pat Riley has called Whiteside the team's top priority this offseason, but it is unclear if he intends to offer a max deal.
