Family Expo event to provide parents with free services and supplies for back to school

Free event brings entertainment and resources to parents and their families

The Children's Trust Family Expo. (The Children's Trust.)

Before we know it, we will be preparing our kids to head back to school. The Family Expo -- the largest, free, family resources event in our community-- will be held in late July and early August to help prepare families with services and supplies for back to school. The event will also be a great source of entertainment.

The Family Expo, hosted by The Childrenā€™s Trust, is a great opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn about the wealth of resources and opportunities available to them and their children, including after-school and enrichment programs, nutrition education, injury prevention, programs for children with special needs and much more.

In its 17th year, the free event will bring excitement, entertainment and resources to parents and their families on July 27 and Aug. 3. This will coincide with the time of year when parents receive information about the required materials for the upcoming school year. It will allow parents to access resources more strategically and reduce the stress of the back-to-school shopping season.

Families will be able to connect with The Childrenā€™s Trustā€™s extensive provider network, as well as other community agencies and organizations that can serve them.

Families in attendance will enjoy an assortment of entertainment that includes balloon artists, face painting and more, both indoors and outdoors.

The event will be held at two locations on two separate dates to better serve those in the community:

  • North Family Expo at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on July 27. Map it here.
  • South Family Expo at Miami Dade College, Kendall Campus in Miami, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 3. Map it here.
