Three Israeli hostages are back home with their families after being released by Hamas on Sunday.
Their release triggered the start of a ceasefire and humanitarian aid is now entering Gaza.
The smiles on the faces of these now former hostages comes after 471 days in captivity.
The three women are now free as part of a ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel.
Their families embraced the much anticipated moment following a war that has stretched more than 15 months.
As part of the deal, 33 more Israeli hostages are set to be released over the next six weeks, including two Americans.
“We cannot imagine the horrors these three young women have endured in 15 months of Hamas captivity,” Rear Admiral and IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said. “Today, we salute and embrace them and their families as they reunite after so long.”
Rabbi Yossi Harlig, of the Chabad of Kendall and Pinecrest, is skeptical about how the ceasefire deal will play out long-term.
“I have big concerns,” he told Local 10 News. “It’s something very difficult to believe they’re gonna be able to follow through.”
Harlig said he won’t be able to breathe a sigh of relief “until all the hostages are home and Hamas is not there in power anymore.”
As part of the deal, 90 Palestinian prisoners and detainees were released from Israeli jails.
Displaced Gazans and a convoy of trucks full of humanitarian aid, meanwhile, are returning to the war-torn streets of the Gaza strip.
Harlig says Jewish people should cling to their faith.
“We’ll prevail again,” he said. “Light over darkness, keep our faith in God, keep doing right and holy things, keep bringing light to the world, keep helping to make a difference in people’s lives.”
