WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Attorneys for a 22-year-old man who was seriously injured when a piece of flying debris struck his car's windshield while he was driving on Interstate 95 last month are asking for the public's help in finding witnesses to the incident.
Holden Amory was driving south on I-95 in Boca Raton on April 29 when a sheet of metal struck the windshield of the musician's BMW.
"I don't really remember anything, to be honest," Amory said.
Amory stopped his car in the middle of the highway, and several Good Samaritans rushed over to help him.
"From here across, I mean, you could see nothing but the inside of his face," witness Starsheja Barton said.
The debris caused extensive damage to Amory's face that requires surgery to repair.
His attorneys, Chris Searcy and Jack Scarola, held a news conference Monday at their West Palm Beach office seeking information from anyone who might have witnessed the incident.
Armory's attorneys believe that that he was struck by a piece of a truck's break drum.
"Somebody saw the truck from which this part became dislodged," Scarola said.
Amory said he didn't realize how bad it was until he heard his parents speaking to a doctor about plastic surgery.
He will undergo reconstructive surgery Tuesday. The surgery is expected to last 10 to 12 hours.
