Scott Padgett joined Local 10's weather team in April 2008.

Like many meteorologists, Scott's interest in weather started at an early age. He still remembers watching thunderstorms near his home with amazement at the force of the wind and the intensity of the lightning.

His fascination led to him studying meteorology at Western Illinois University, where he graduated with a bachelor of science in meteorology and a double minor in broadcasting and math.

During Scott's last semester at WIU, he drove two hours each way to anchor the weather for KFXB in Dubuque, Iowa. From there, he crossed the country, making stops in Kentucky, Maryland and most recently at KOKH in Oklahoma City, Okla. It was there that Scott reached one of his life goals of becoming a chief meteorologist.

While he enjoyed the challenge of forecasting for the severe weather capitol of the world, his dream had always been to work in Miami. He is grateful to be in South Florida living his dream.

Scott is both a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. In 2006, he was awarded the Seal of Approval of the American Meteorological Society.

Scott is the proud uncle of three nephews named Braydon, Trevor and Chase. One of their favorite things to do is to travel to Disney World. In fact, the boys are excited that Uncle Scott lives in the same state where Mickey Mouse lives.

During his free time, you can find Scott walking his Shih Tzu, Chloe, or behind his camera continuing his love of photography. Working out is also something he likes to do during his free time. Scott hopes that hobby pays off now that he has found a new hobby -- going to the beach.

Scott has a love of adventure and is looking forward to traveling all across South Florida, eating the local cuisine and visiting with South Floridians. He looks forward to greeting viewers on The Local News mornings between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. and around town.

If you see him, don't hesitate to stop and say hello.
