WASHINGTON – The Trump administration is considering a crackdown on recreational marijuana usage.
In his press briefing Thursday, White House press secretary Sean Spicer hinted the administration may seek greater enforcement of the federal law against marijuana use despite many states legalizing the drug.

Politico reports Spicer made a clear distinction between recreational use and medical marijuana.
Spicer claimed President Trump is aware of "the pain and suffering that many people go through who are facing especially terminal diseases, and the comfort that some of these drugs, including medical marijuana, can bring to them."
But Spicer had a different reaction to recreational use of the drug.
"That's a very, very different subject," said Spicer.
According to the report, Spicer said the White House does not want to encourage recreational usage due to the current opioid addiction crisis around the country.
“I do believe that you'll see greater enforcement of it," concluded Spicer.
