MIAMI – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis made a stop at Florida International University on Friday, where speculation continued to swirl about her potential run for governor in 2026.
During a news conference, Casey DeSantis was asked directly whether she is considering a bid to succeed her husband by Local 10 News reporter Christina Vasquez.
She deflected, offering a cryptic response.
“I would say one thing — to quote the late, great Yogi Berra: When you come to a fork in the road, take it,” Casey DeSantis said.
Pressed further for clarity, Ron DeSantis interjected, suggesting that many have encouraged her to run.
“I’ve got people coming up to me for years begging to get her in the fray,” he said. However, Casey DeSantis did not confirm or deny any plans, leaving her political future open to interpretation.
The governor also used the event to announce a new initiative involving public universities and local governments, stating he plans to “DOGE” institutions throughout Florida.
While details were sparse, he indicated artificial intelligence could play a role and suggested legislative action may be necessary.
DeSantis also dismissed concerns that his administration was overstepping into local governance, saying he does not see the initiative as Tallahassee imposing control.
