He was joined by Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Executive Director Dave Kerner and Jacksonville Sheriff T.K. Waters.

“We are not a sanctuary state. We want our counties and state to take this immigration mission seriously,” DeSantis said.

The governor announced he has called a special legislative session for Monday to address issues including immigration, condominium safety, and hurricane relief. He emphasized that tackling illegal immigration is a priority for Florida voters.

DeSantis also highlighted law enforcement’s renewed focus on gang enforcement.

“We have an opportunity to make a difference with a new sheriff in town,” he said, referencing President Donald Trump.

DeSantis added, “We also want to ensure that proper bail amounts are in place for illegal immigrants who try to come into the country.”
