‘Very concerned’: Biden faces calls to drop out of 2024 presidential race

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden met with NATO leaders Wednesday to mark the alliance’s 75th anniversary.

“Seventy-five years ago, when our nations created the alliance, President Truman said we hope to create a shield against aggression,” Biden said.

However, concerns about Biden’s candidacy are growing.

“I’m very concerned. It’s going to be a close race,” said U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill.

More Democrats and donors, including Hollywood star George Clooney, are calling for Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

In a New York Times opinion piece, Clooney shared his admiration for Biden but noted that the president he saw during a June 15 fundraiser “was not the Joe ‘Big [expletive] deal’ Biden of 2010.”

Clooney urged Democratic leaders to ask Biden to “voluntarily step aside,” saying, “We are not going to win in November with this president.”

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appeared to leave the door open for Biden to bow out, stating, “It’s up to the president to decide if he’s going to run. We’re all encouraging him to make that decision; time is running short.”

In response, the Biden campaign reiterated his intent to run.

During a recent interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, Stephanopoulos shared his concerns, stating in a video shared by TMZ, “I don’t think he can serve four more years.”
