MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – An off-duty police officer's UTV caught fire Wednesday morning in Miami-Dade County, authorities said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Felipe Lay said authorities were called just before 11:30 a.m. about a UTV that was on fire.
Lay said the officer was riding on his UTV when he felt it get hot.
He said the officer got off the vehicle, and it caught fire.
No one was injured, but the 4-wheeler was destroyed.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
Authorities warn UTV riders to always wear their seat belts, whether operating a UTV 4-wheeler or a street-legal golf cart.
