Delta Airlines set to update passenger boarding starting May 1

Delta Airlines is bringing back a familiar way to help customers board their flights beginning in May.

Beginning on May 1, passengers can expect to board their flight by numbered zones instead of by categories.

According to a chart on Delta’s website, customers in Delta One, First Class and those who need assistance will board in Zone 1. Diamond Medallion Members and Delta Premium Select will board in Zone 2.

Delta Comfort+ will board in Zone 3; Sky Priority in Zone 4; Main Cabin 1 in Zone 5; Main Cabin 2 in Zone 6; Main Cabin 3 in Zone 7; and Basic Economy will be Zone 8.

The new numbered zone will be clearly pronounced on customers’ boarding passes.
