VIDEO: Men caught pushing over federally protected rock formations near Lake Mead, some nearly 140 million years old

LAKE MEAD, Nv. ā€“ Two men are coming under fire after they were caught on camera pushing heavy rocks from a canyon along the Redstone Dunes Trail near Lake Mead.

A little girl can be heard telling her dad not to fall.

The rock formation is believed to be at least 140 million years old and is federally protected.

Authorities say destruction like this can result in felony charges.

ā€œIt takes millions of years for these rock formations to form, and then you get a few idiots out there that are destroying all that work of nature. Itā€™s pretty appalling it is kind of disgusting,ā€™ said a park official for the Lake Mead National Recreational Area.

The two men have not yet been arrested, but park officials encourage visitors to capture photos or videos of any suspicious activity which can help officials identify offenders.
