MIAMI ā A new school year means a plethora of new programs for students.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools board members met as Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho announced that the district will launch 53 new programs starting the first day of school, Aug. 24.
"This is the most dramatic expansion," Carvalho said.Ā
The additional programs brings the number of choice programs available up to 500.Ā
Carvalho spoke about the importance of improving education within the Miami-Dade County community.Ā
Wi-Fi on school buses is also on the list of new options for the 2015-2016 school year.
Carvalho pointed out that learning should not stop when students leave the classroom and that students can use time on the bus for studying. The district's new Internet-access program is called "Wi-Fi on the Go."
GPS tracking on school buses so that parents can keep track of their child will also be a part of the expansion.
