MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Police on Thursday arrested 20-year-old man accused in two murders.
Police say Kumasi Ford killed 19-year-old Raymond Mills outside his home on November 4. His family heard gunshots, then found his body in the driveway.
Kumasi was also charged in the July 2012 murder of Paul "PJ" Royal, a standout linebacker at Carol City High School who had received a full scholarship to play college football in Jacksonville. Thursday would have been Royal's 20th birthday.
"This is a bittersweet moment but what other way to celebrate a birthday to get this animal off the street," said Royal's father, Damion Davis. "This is a battle that we have won today. It's not going to bring PJ back, but it'll bring us closure."
Police charged Ford with two counts of first-degree murder.
Police say Ford has been arrested 32 times. A motive wasn't immediately released.
