FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — Two people were stabbed Thursday night at an apartment complex in Florida City, and a suspect has since been taken into custody, authorities confirmed Friday morning.
According to Florida City police, the stabbing was reported at about 9 p.m. at the Southpoint Crossing Apartments on West Lucy Street.
“I just heard a lot of screaming last night, and then I actually had someone, like, try to jiggle my handle, like try to come in the door,” one neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, said.
That neighbor said her Ring camera captured the suspect trying to get inside her apartment before police showed up.
Sgt. David Hunsberger said officers arrived at the scene and found a man and a woman who had been stabbed.
He said both victims were airlifted to Jackson South Trauma where they remain in stable condition.
A neighbor told Local 10 News that the victims were a mother and son, but police have not yet confirmed that information.
The suspect, identified only as an adult male, was also located at the scene and was arrested, Hunsberger confirmed.
