DANIA BEACH, Fla. — A young child and a woman were hospitalized after a dog attack Friday evening at a Dania Beach apartment building, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
BSO deputies responded to an animal bite call around 6:30 p.m. at the Koosh Living apartments near Southwest 28th Avenue and Griffin Road.
The circumstances of the attack, including how many dogs were involved and the ages of the people involved, were not immediately clear.
Investigators said the dogs have been located. Broward County Animal Care was also called to the scene.
Authorities were working to learn the conditions of the child and woman.
Corey Clemson, who lives nearby, said the incident was concerning, especially as a parent.
“That’s terrible, man. I have a 3-year-old son and I know dogs sometimes, anything can happen at any moment,” Clemson said.
Clemson said people need to be vigilant about their surroundings and avoid certain situations when possible.
“If you can’t keep your dog away from children if they’re not friendly, just do that,” he said.
Detectives remained on scene as they gathered evidence.
Clemson said he hopes everyone involved will be OK.
