NORTH MIAMI, Fla. — One person has died following a chain-reaction crash that occurred Sunday morning on Interstate 95 in North Miami, authorities confirmed.
Officials said the crash happened in the northbound express lanes of I-95 near the exit for Northwest 125th Street.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a driver made an improper lane change, which caused a chain-reaction crash involving a total of four vehicles.
Two people were rushed to nearby trauma facilities for treatment, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials said.
Troopers later confirmed that a passenger in one of the vehicles, who had been transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, died from their injuries.
It’s unclear whether the driver who caused the crash will be cited or charged.
The identities of those involved in the collision have not been released.
