DORAL, Fla. — First responders rushed to the scene of a reported lightning strike on Thursday.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. near the headquarters for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, located at 9300 NW 41st St. in Doral.

According to officials, rescue crews responded after receiving reports of a car that had been struck by lightning.

Investigators said an off-duty deputy was sitting inside his vehicle working an assignment when it was struck by lightning.

The deputy was taken by MDFR to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital in stable condition.

No other details were immediately released.
