DANIA BEACH, Fla. — First responders rushed to the scene of crash Saturday after a car slammed into a home in Dania Beach.
It happened late Saturday afternoon at the corner of Northwest 13th Avenue and West Dania Beach Boulevard.
A hole was left in the side of the home after a white Jeep Cherokee with front-end damage was towed away.
Rescue crews said one person was hospitalized.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, that person was a woman who was the passenger in the Jeep.
Deputies said the driver, Jimmere Thomas, 35, took off on foot after the crash, leaving the injured passenger behind.

Soon after, authorities were alerted by witnesses that the driver had returned to the scene and was acting as an observer, according to BSO.
Deputies said they quickly took Thomas into custody. He faces two counts each of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident, and one count of driving while license suspended/revoked.
An investigation continues into the cause of the crash, authorities said.
