PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — A helicopter pilot made a hard landing southwest of U.S. 27 and Pembroke Road in Pembroke Pines on Saturday morning, police confirmed.
A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson said the helicopter, a Robinson R22 with registration number N8316N, rolled onto its side after landing near Opa-locka West Airport at about 7:45 a.m.
Authorities said the pilot and another individual were on board, and no injuries have been reported at this time. Both individuals are “ambulatory,” according to Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue officials. They have not been identified at this time.
Officials said PPFR and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene.
They said crews were working to gain access to the helicopter using air rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office track unit because of terrain issues.
They said drivers should expect possible traffic impacts in the area as crews respond to the crash.
No other details about the crash were immediately released.
