It was around 1:15 a.m. Sunday when Hollywood police officers responded to the 5300 block of Plunkett Street.

According to police, arriving officers found two victims at the scene.

Officials said both victims were rushed a nearby hospital.

Police said they apprehended the suspect, later identified as 38-year-old Cameron Alexander, after establishing a perimeter.

Local 10 News’ cameras observed what appeared to be a bullet and blood on the ground.

Detectives were seen taking pictures overnight and into the morning and crime scene tape closed off a portion of Plunkett Street as investigators worked this scene.

Family members were also observed talking with police officers, looking for answers about how and why their loved one was apparently shot.

One family member told Local 10 News two other people who may have been involved could be detained for questioning.

On the ground, several other evidence markers were placed throughout the morning as detectives worked to piece together what happened.

Records indicate Alexander is facing several charges, including premeditated murder, aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and resisting an officer without violence.

This isn’t the first time the 38-year-old has faced similar charges.

According to the Florida Department of Corrections, Alexander served 10 years in prison for attempted murder and attempted robbery charges from 2007. He was released in 2017.

In 2024, he was sentenced to three years for charges including possession of a weapon and cocaine, aggravated fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and obstruction. He completed that sentence earlier this year.
