Police: 1 grazed by bullet on Florida’s Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday in the southbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike in southwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.

According to Homestead police, officers were dispatched to the parking lot at the Waterstone Plaza, located in the 3000 block of Northeast 43rd Avenue, in reference to a shooting that was believed to have occurred on the Turnpike.

Police said they soon discovered that the victim had been grazed by a bullet during a road rage shooting in the southbound lanes of the highway, just north of Southwest 288th Street, outside of Homestead city limits.

The victim was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital for treatment.

FHP has since taken over the investigation.

No other details were immediately released.
