According to his arrest report, the Miami Police Department opened an investigation into Geovany Alfonso Herrera, 25, in 2023 after receiving an online complaint that 16 images/videos of child sexual abuse material had been uploaded to a Kik Messenger account in 2020, and several other videos had been shared in 2022 and 2023 between an unknown Instagram user and various Instagram accounts belonging to Herrera.
Police said a warrant was executed Wednesday on Herrera’s cellphone at which time they found two child pornography videos, one of which involved a girl who appeared to be between the ages of 9 and 12, and another showing a girl and boy who appeared to be between 12 and 13.
According to the report, Herrera provided a statement to police, however that statement was redacted from the publicly released report.
Herrera was arrested on a charge of promoting the sexual performance of a child.
As of Thursday afternoon, Herrera was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $37,500 bond.
Online jail records show that he was out on felony bond for an aggravated battery case at the time of his arrest.
