MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Surveillance video exclusively obtained by Local 10 News Monday shows one of the suspects allegedly involved in the armed robbery of a Miami-Dade jeweler inside his home.
The video shows the victim, York Valdez, running away from the home on March 13. Another video shows one of the suspects appearing to load stolen items into the victim’s car before taking off in it.
Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the victim’s home in the area of Southwest 284th Street and 130th Avenue after the armed robbery.
According to one of the suspect’s arrest reports, Wilfredo Antuna, 35, told the victim, “We know who you are. We know you are York the Jeweler.”
Ashon Lillie, a neighbor, told Local 10 News that he saw three people walking up and down the street, and later he heard someone scream, “Oh my God!” He then heard silence followed by dogs barking.
Officer Samantha Choon, a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, said at the time that three masked gunmen clad in black ambushed a resident after midnight outside the home.
“They took him into the home. They gathered the rest of the family; they took them into one room,” Choon said.
Miami-Dade County property records show Valdez owns the two-story, four-bedroom house in the Lake Frances subdivision.
“One of the subjects held the victims at gunpoint in the room while the other two ransacked the home,” Choon said.
The burglars got away with the homeowner’s jewelry and clothing and also stole the victim’s white Cadillac sports utility vehicle, according to Choon.
“There were no injuries and we are fortunate for that - but this was a scary situation,” Choon said.
Miami-Dade deputies did not release the identity of the victims, but Valdez used social media to describe his nightmare before he walked outside of his home to talk to Local 10 News.
Valdez, who has more than 121,000 followers on TikTok, posted a video saying in Spanish, saying that three men had held him and his family hostage for about five to six hours, threatened to kidnap his daughter, and also stole designer bags and two watches.
“The biggest fear of my life is that something would happen to my daughter,” Valdez wrote in Spanish on TikTok.
Valdez regularly shares photos and videos of gold Cuban chains, rings with large gemstones, pendants encrusted with diamonds, and other bold pieces he sells at his two stores in Miami-Dade County.
“More than 5 million people see me every week,” Valdez said.
He said he suspects the burglars who held him and his family at gunpoint were probably among his viewers.
“This is a lesson I learned to slow down a bit on social media,” Valdez said in Spanish on TikTok. He said he was grateful that his family was safe, and he also had a message for the burglars: “God bless you.”
In addition to Antuna, another suspect identified as Keith Ingraham, 57, was also arrested in the case.
Ingraham, who was charged with dealing in stolen property, organized theft, dealing in stolen property on the internet and altered identification pawnbroker, accepted a plea deal and was sentenced on May 15 to eight years in prison.
Antuna’s case is still pending.
Police said he was arrested exactly a week after the burglary and was wearing Valdez’s white gold Cuban link chain and Gucci shirt at the time of his arrest.
Antuna faces a number of charges from kidnapping to armed robbery.
Anyone with information about the armed burglary or third suspect is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
