Correctional deputies booked Smith, 33, at the Monroe County Detention Center after the Key West Police Department and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office set up a perimeter to find her.

Smith, who had a warrant for her arrest, fled from Key West detectives during a traffic stop, crashed a white Kia sedan, ran away, and was fleeing in a taxi with two men when deputies found her, police said.

Detectives identified the two men they said tried to help Smith escape during their search as Thomas Dixon and Russell Boscamp.

Records show Smith was 29 when deputies arrested her and a passenger after a police dog found marijuana, traces of MDMA, and drug paraphernalia in the Cadillac she was driving in Marathon.

A Monroe County judge sentenced Smith in 2022 to four years in prison followed by probation. According to the Florida Department of Corrections, the probation was set to end on Aug. 20, 2026.

Smith faced new charges of fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, possession of a schedule II substance, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Dixon, 51, and Boscamp, 28, faced charges of accessory after the fact and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony. Boscamp also faced a charge of resisting arrest without violence.
