U.S. Navy Blue Angels flies guests ahead of Air Dot Show in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – As a reward for being Broward County Public Schools’ 2025 Teacher of the Year, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels took Richard Lamarre on an adventure.

Lamarre, a science teacher at Miramar High School, was The Fort Lauderdale Air Show’s guest of honor Tuesday at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.

As a Blue Angels Key Influencer’s guest, Lamarre flew in the backseat of a Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet, a fighter plane with a supersonic twin-engine.

Lamarre, a Florida State University graduate, experienced high-speed rolls, loops, and other maneuvers during a 45-minute flight with Maj. Scott Laux.

The 2025 Air Dot Show’s meet and greet is on Friday and the openings are at 11:45 a.m., on Saturday and Sunday, in Fort Lauderdale Beach. The Blue Angels are the 2 p.m. headline performance on both days.

Children who are 5 years old or younger do not need an admission ticket at the Hugh Taylor Birch State Park’s Drop Zone seating area at 3109 East Sunrise Boulevard.
