MIAMI – A Miami man is facing charges after police said he attacked a 72-year-old trolley bus driver last year.

The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Samson Fulton, was arrested Saturday by the Miami Police Department in connection with the incident, according to an arrest report obtained by Local 10 News on Monday.
The report stated that on Aug. 26, 2024, the victim flagged down an officer near Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 21st Street after being attacked.
The victim told police he was driving trolley bus when Fulton, accompanied by a woman carrying an alcoholic beverage, tried to board the bus at North Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 15th Street, according to investigators.
The driver said he informed Fulton he could not bring alcohol onto the bus, authorities said.
They said the woman put the drink away shortly after and the two sat at the rear of the vehicle, but the driver told officers that Fulton was cursing at him during the ride, according to the report.
When the bus stopped at Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 20th Street, the driver asked Fulton to leave. Police said Fulton then approached the driver and punched him in the face before fleeing on foot with the woman.
Police later conducted a sequential lineup in which the victim positively identified Fulton as the attacker. A second witness also identified Fulton as the man seen on the bus during the incident, the report stated.
Detectives interviewed Fulton after his arrest on Saturday morning.
According to the report, Fulton waived his rights and agreed to speak but claimed he had no recollection of the incident.
Jail records show he is facing one count of battery on a person 65 years or older.
Fulton was not listed as an inmate on the Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation website as of Monday afternoon.
