POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Hussein Abdelazis said he witnessed his 27-year-old brother’s unsolved murder nearly a month ago in Broward County.
Hussein Abdelazis said he and his brother Sayf Abdelaziz, the youngest of five siblings, were working together on March 30 in Pompano Beach.
He said they had worked a 14-hour shift and they were getting ready to close the Fire Up Smoke Shop, at 1251 East Sample Road, when a man walked in.
“A customer is looking to buy a vape,” said Hussein Abdelazis, adding that the killer walked in right after. “My brother didn’t even see it coming ... He got shot in the back of the head.”
Hussein Abdelazis said the shooter -- who has big eyes and is about 5 feet 8 inches tall -- didn’t try to rob them or say anything before or after the shooting. The gunman wore a black hoodie, a black ski mask, and black gloves -- and ran away.
“I am thinking of even chasing him, but when you see something like that ... You see your brother dying in front of you; you can’t just leave him there,” Hussein Abelazis said.
According to Hussein Abelazis, Sayf Abdelaziz didn’t have any enemies. He was a family man and a hard worker who had a zest for life.
“He really cared for his family, for his family’s business. He would go to work and come back home,” Hussein Abdelazis said.
Mohammad Abdelazis, their griving father, said their family needs closure. Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputies’ evidence includes surveillance video.
“I want justice,” Mohammad Abdelazis said.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous. There is a reward of $60,000 for information to solve the case.
