SUNRISE, Fla. – A Miami police officer was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly beat his wife inside their home in Sunrise, authorities confirmed.
According to an arrest report obtained Wednesday by Local 10 News, the incident occurred Sunday night after the couple arrived home from an Easter event.
Sunrise police said they arrived at the scene and found the victim outside of the home with a bloody bottom lip and blood smeared on her teeth.
According to the report, the victim told police that her husband was heavily intoxicated due to drinking a bottle of rum at the event and took a shower when they arrived at home.
But the woman said her husband, Christian Vladimir Sanchez, 29, was in the shower for “an extremely long period of time,” so she asked him to get out so she could give their daughter a bath, the report stated.
Police said Sanchez was so drunk that he knocked the shower rod down as he lost his balance in the shower.
According to the report, Sanchez exited the shower and placed the shower rod in the living room as his wife began to give their daughter a bath.
The victim said her husband then re-entered the bathroom and tried to make sexual advances on her by touching her, but she refused his advances and he left the bathroom, authorities said.
Police said the victim was then drying their daughter off in her room when Sanchez entered and demanded that his wife gather her belongings and leave their house.
According to the report, because Sanchez was drunk, the victim agreed that she would leave in the morning.
Police said Sanchez then grabbed his wife by her ponytail and pulled her backwards.
Due to being pulled back, the victim accidentally struck their daughter with her arm, causing the child to cry, the report stated.
Sanchez, in turn, told his daughter he was sorry her mother was such a “b****,” the report stated.
According to the report, the victim tried to deescalate the situation by taking their daughter to the master bedroom, but Sanchez continued demanding that she leave their home and also demanded she give him her cellphone.
Police said the victim refused to hand over her phone and Sanchez then got on top of her on their bed and punched her about 30 times.
“While striking her, (Sanchez) began demanding for her cellphone or he would continue to strike her,” the arrest report stated.
According to the report, the victim screamed for another woman who was inside the home to call police.
She then gave Sanchez her phone, but he grabbed her by her hair again and punched her about 10 more times, police said.
According to the report, the victim eventually freed herself from Sanchez and fled the home, attempting to get help from neighbors.
Police said other woman who was inside the home had filmed part of the attack and then called 911.
According to the report, that woman told Sanchez she was calling police and Sanchez pointed at her and repeatedly told her “hang it up.”
Police said the woman got scared as Sanchez approached her, so she dropped the phone, prompting Sanchez to pick it up and hang up on the 911 dispatcher.
According to the report, Sanchez initially fled the scene with the second victim’s phone, but was eventually taken into custody.
He faces charges of robbery and battery.
Sanchez has since been released from jail on a $50,000 bond, but has been outfitted with a GPS monitor.
A Broward County judge ordered that he have no contact with his wife and he must not possess any firearms or ammunition.
Miami police confirmed that he has been relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of the case and an Internal Affairs investigation.
