Fort Lauderdale police arrest 2 teens after gunfire erupts in broad daylight

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Two teens are facing serious charges after police say they are responsible for firing several gunshots hitting at least one innocent person.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows a blue car suddenly stop before the doors open and gunfire erupts in the middle of a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood.

At least three shots were fired before the car drove away.

It happened on April 4 along the 500 block of Northwest 22nd Avenue in the middle of the day.

Fort Lauderdale police say 15-year-old Karmelo Knowles and 17-year-old Montrele Muff were found in that same car later that day.

The two were arrested on attempted murder charges.

According to a witness, a woman was hit by the gunfire.

Police say the victim was in serious condition but did not have life threatening injuries.

The woman who was shot lives in the neighborhood, but was too scared to go on camera.

Fort Lauderdale police say they are still working on releasing the official report for the shooting.
