HOMESTEAD, Fla. – A Miami-Dade County man is $1 million richer after hitting it big on a Florida Lottery scratch-off ticket.
Before taxes, of course.

Hector Anaya Jr., 27, of Homestead, claimed the prize from the $1,000,000 A Year For Life Spectacular game at Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee, Lottery officials announced Tuesday.
Anaya chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
Lottery officials said Anaya bought the winning $50 ticket at a RaceTrac gas station located at 3310 NE Eighth Street in Homestead. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.
“Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 74 percent of ticket sales in fiscal year 2023-2024,” the Florida Lottery stated in a news release. “Additionally, since inception, Scratch-Off games have awarded more than $65.5 billion in prizes, created 2,283 millionaires, and generated more than $19.80 billion for the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.”
