NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Authorities have released the mug shot of a man accused in a double stabbing that they say left his ex-girlfriend dead and her daughter injured last weekend in North Lauderdale.
Jail records show Vital Joseph, 56, was arrested in Brevard County earlier this week but has since been transferred to the Broward County Main Jail.
The reported stabbing happened this past Saturday at a townhome in the 1800 block of Runners Way.
Deputies with the Broward Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a report of two women stabbed inside the residence.
The victims were identified as Maggie Pouer, 52, and her adult daughter, Isabelle Joseph. Authorities said Pouer, who authorities identified as Vital Joseph’s ex-girlfriend, later died from her injuries..
Noon report:
Detectives say Vital Joseph was seen on doorbell camera video entering the home just before the stabbing. They also confirmed that Maggie Pouer’s granddaughter discovered the scene and called 911.
“A guy came with a knife and he stabbed. Come ... hurry! They are loosing a lot of blood,” she told dispatchers.
Family members say Isabelle Joseph is recovering at home but was unaware Vital Joseph had been brought back to Broward County.
Vital Joseph’s defense attorney’ invoked his client’s right to remain silent during a bond court appearance on Friday.
The motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
Records show Vital Joseph is being held without bond as of Friday afternoon. He is facing one count each of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and burglary of a dwelling with battery.
