MIRAMAR, Fla. – History has been made in the City of Miramar.
The city has hired its first Black Fire Chief in its history.
According to the city’s website, Chief McFarlane has spent 26 years with the City of Miramar Fire Rescue Department and has proudly held each position, rising through the ranks from Firefighter to Driver Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief and most recently Deputy Fire Chief.
McFarlane has spent his entire career in Miramar.
“It is the honor of my life to serve the residents of Miramar as the Fire Chief. Having spent the past 26 years with the Department, I am deeply committed to our mission of excellence in public safety. I look forward to leading our outstanding men and women in uniform as we continue to protect and serve this great city,” said McFarlane.
He is serving as the 11th Fire Rescue Chief for the City of Miramar.
